Christmas

I love Christmas time, its one of my favorite times of the year. I love the music, decorations, baking, and of course the shopping. But most of all I love the most special gift of all, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I am thankful that we can still openly celebrate the birth of our Savior.
He came was born into this world that we may have eternal life, without Trusting Him as our personal Lord and Savior there is no way into heaven.
What a precious gift we have in Jesus :)

By Way of The Silverthorns

I have never done a book review before, but I thought why not. I was going through my parents book shelf one day and stumbled upon an old book by Grace Livingston Hill written in 1941. I was immediately interested, as I love anything antique, and then to find a stamp that the book was written during war time conditions!

Grace was born in 1865 and wrote over a hundred books in her lifetime.

The book was suprisingly good, has great morales, and a great Christian foundation.

Street Style

Today my oldest daughter (who is 11) and I went downtown to have a little girl time. And what a perfect day it was to do it! They were having a Street Style competition, four designers had four hours to make a dress they designed from scratch. After the four hours were over they walked the runway, and the judges revealed the winner. I can't began to tell you how much fun this was for my daughter and I, as we both love fashion and design!

This one above was my daughters Favorite made by Melissa May

This one was my FAV, its a giant bow! Love it!
made by Heidi Busk

This one is beautiful, but would have been a nice if she was wearing a top!
Made by, Rachel Marie Hurst.
Did not care for this one at all, it totally looks like it was thrown together in 4 hours!

Start of a new quilt I am working on

The finished quilt! My Mother loved it, I had a picture of my grandmother put on fabric and
quilted around it. A special memory for my mother :)

If I ever finish this quilt, I will never do triangles again!

Home Decor

This is the dinning room chair I reupholstered. They were white,  you can imagine
with 3 kids what they looked like! Wish I had taken a before pic.
It is so easy to do this, all you need is the fabric and a staple gun.

How to make a Pom Pom Necklace

This is all the supplies you will need;
felt fabric
color fabric of your choice
Hot glue gun
fabric diapering marker
skinny chain
something to trace circles with, I used a lid to one of my hair products.
Trace the circles on the felt, and then on the fabric. Fold up the fabric so you can cut many at one time.

Scrunch up the fabric and put a dot pf glue at the bottom point.
Glue it at the center of the felt circle.
Continue to follow around your center point
I make five of these for a necklace. Once you have five completed glue them on felt in the shape of necklace you want, starting with the center. Before you do the last two put the end of the chain down and glue the fabric on top of it. I make the chain long enough to put over my head.

This one my 9 year old daughter made, all by her self :)

Easy Christmas TuTu

Measure your elastic and sew the ends, or you can use an elastic head band.
Next roll up the fabric and cut in 4 in strips. Take the long strips and then cut them in half. Take that half and fold it in half and pull it through around the elastic. Continue this all the way around. I used about 5 yards of fabric.

Powder Room Makeover

This bathroom was stuck in the early 90s. It had floral wall paper floor to ceiling, (unfortunately I took the picture after I had already taken down the wallpaper). It also had a huge mirror and big vanity light bulbs! yuck
I took off the wall paper, with a Weber Steamer. Next I took off the cabinet doors, and primed them along with the frame of the cabinets, and added the white paint next. The hardware that I took off, I spray painted with bronze spray paint that matched the bronze knobs I bought. I painted the walls with a warm tan called Moose Munch from Lowell's Valor paint. I Got a new light fixture and mirror, along with bronze accessories!

Daughters Room

My girls love antiques, so while they were away visiting my in-laws, I went to some local antique shops and found some neat pieces. The Antique Tea Cart between the two chairs is over a 100 years old the two sides fold out. I got this for free! The chairs I painted while and then sanded down all the edges, to give it a shabby chic look. I did the same thing with the antique window.
